Terms, licence and privacy
Plain words, because you are buying from one person and should know exactly what you get.
The licence
Paying for Stashcut gives you a personal, non-transferable licence to install and use it on up to three Macs you personally use at a time. A household with two Macs needs one licence. If you replace a Mac, the licence moves to the new one. A company putting it on twenty machines needs twenty, or a word with [email protected] about a fair price.
You may not resell, sublicense or redistribute the app or a licence key. You may keep using the version you bought for as long as it runs on your Mac.
Updates
Every 1.x update is included. If a 2.0 ever appears with a price on it, people who bought 1.x will be told first and offered a discount.
Refunds
Fourteen days from purchase, no questions asked. Write to [email protected] from the address you bought with, and the payment is returned in full.
Privacy
Your clipboard history, settings and images are stored on your Mac, in your Library folder. Stashcut does not upload your clipboard history to its licence service, and has no advertising analytics or crash reporter. You do not need to create a Stashcut account.
The direct-download app contacts our licence service for activation and renewal, app updates, downloads and optional model packs. Activation sends your licence key, a salted hash identifying this Mac, its friendly device name and the app version. We retain licence and payment references, activation and release records, and download counts to provide access and enforce the three-Mac limit. The service and its hosting provider also process the connection information needed to serve requests, such as your IP address. The Mac's hardware UUID itself is not sent.
AI actions and Ask Your Clipboard send the selected text or retrieved clippings to the model endpoint you choose. A model running locally on your Mac processes that text locally; a remote endpoint receives it under that provider's terms. Optional Jev credential checking, switched off unless you enable it with your own key, sends a transformed shape of a clipping to TypeSafe. That shape replaces most letters and digits but preserves punctuation, published key prefixes and some known words; it is not an assurance of complete anonymity.
Saving a credential to 1Password uses your configured 1Password account and its service. Filing into Obsidian writes to the vault folder you choose; any sync of that folder is handled by your storage or Obsidian provider. These features run only when configured or requested.
Stripe handles checkout and receives the information a payment needs, such as your email address, country and payment method. Stashcut receives your email address and payment references to issue and support your licence. Scaleway delivers licence emails, and Cloudflare routes mail sent to [email protected] to our Gmail inbox. We use these details for purchase delivery, licence support and refunds, not marketing. Contact that address for privacy questions or to request deletion of personal information, subject to records we must retain for accounting or legal obligations.
Warranty and liability
Stashcut is provided as is. It is tested carefully and used every day by the person who makes it, and it is still software: it can have bugs. To the extent the law allows, there is no warranty beyond what is written here, and liability is limited to the price you paid. Nothing in these terms limits rights that consumer law gives you and that cannot be waived.
Third-party notices
Stashcut is built on Flycut, copyright General Arcade (Gennadiy Potapov), 2011 to 2020, and Jumpcut, copyright Steve Cook, 2002 to 2008. Both are released under the MIT License, reproduced in full in the app's Credits tab. Stashcut's own additions are proprietary.
